The Prayer for Protection
The light of God surrounds me;
The love of God enfolds me;
The power of God protects me;
The presence of God watches over me.
Wherever I am, God is!
The Prayer for Protection was written by the late James Dillet Freeman, poet laureate of the Unity movement and director of Silent Unity, Unity’s worldwide prayer ministry.
At Unity Church of Anderson, we use “affirmative prayer.” Rather than begging God, we connect with the God spirit within and assert positive beliefs about the desired outcome. For example, instead of saying, “God please find a house for me,” we say, “I am guided to find a comfortable and safe home that I can financially afford.”
Jesus was teaching affirmative prayer when he said, “So I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours” (Mark 11:24).
Unity is a ministry founded on the power of prayer
It was through prayer that our co-founders, Charles and Myrtle Fillmore, received significant and seemingly miraculous healings. Prayer always has been central to Unity and to our ministry at Unity of Anderson.
